What do the categories mean?

The examples show three types of lesson, based on what they mainly practise.

Technique
Vehicle control and coordination, such as adjusting the car and using its controls.
Traffic situation
Applying rules in traffic, such as priority rules at junctions.
Skill
Scanning, adjusting speed, road position and risk awareness.

Quizzes, chapter tests and assessments in Steerly are for practice and review. They do not replace the official theory test or driving test at Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration.

How to use the two tracks

You can study theory without a car or supervisor. Quizzes after lessons and tests after chapters help you practise and check your understanding.

The practical stages give you an order to follow. Each lesson has a goal, a briefing and focus points for the supervisor (handledare). Read the task together before the session, while the car is stationary.

You can study theory between practice sessions. A theory lesson does not have to be the first step before every drive.

Scanning (city)

The lesson goal describes what the learner will practise. The briefing and focus points help the supervisor prepare the task and know what to watch for.

GPS support is used when the lesson needs a route. Early lessons can be stationary or take place in quiet surroundings without a generated route.

Both seats

Review the drive once you have parked

Once you have parked, the supervisor completes the required driving assessment, then may assess their own supervision. The phone changes hands once. The learner may assess their own driving and give feedback on the clarity of the supervision and the atmosphere. Both self-assessments and the feedback on supervision are optional.

Feedback on supervision never changes the learner’s result in the app.
